Coral Gables parking rates explained: City garages, meters, lots and permit zones

The short answer

City garages in Coral Gables, Florida charge $1.00 per 24 minutes with an $18.00 daily maximum. On-street meters run up to $3.50 an hour and are enforced every day from 9 a.m. to midnight, and City lots charge up to $4.00 an hour, as the City publishes them. Residential permit zones are for residents and their hanglet holders.

The City of Coral Gables spreads its parking rules over several documents: a garages and fees page, a Parking FAQs page and a resident rate page. We read them on October 20, 2026 and put the numbers in one place, quoted the way the City writes them. Where the City publishes a ceiling rather than a set price, we say so.

The short version, checked October 20, 2026

City garages: “$1.00 per 24 minutes” and “$18.00 Maximum per day.” On-street meters: up to $3.50 an hour, enforced “7 days a week from 9 a.m. to Midnight.” City lots: up to $4.00 an hour. Residential permit: $20.00 per vehicle per year. Private garages set their own prices.

City garages: $1.00 per 24 minutes, $18 a day

The City lists these municipal garages, all with the same posted rate: Garage 1 at 245 Andalusia Avenue, Garage 2 at 220 Aragon Avenue, Garage 4 at 385 Andalusia Avenue, Garage 6 at 51 Aragon Avenue, Minorca Garage at 254 Minorca Avenue.

At $1.00 per 24 minutes, an hour works out to $2.50 and the $18.00 daily maximum is reached after 7 hours 12 minutes of charges, by our arithmetic. The City’s parking day “begins at 12 a.m. and ends at 11:59 p.m.,” so the cap applies per calendar day, not per 24 hours from entry. A lost ticket costs $18.00 per day. The City’s Parking FAQs and its fees page disagree on how many garages there are, so we list them by name instead of giving a count.

How you pay depends on the garage. The City says Garages 1, 2, 4 and 6 use a pay station with the ticket you take on entry, and that it is working to bring app payment to all municipal garages. The Minorca Garage already takes app payment. Shops can buy validation tickets for Garages 1, 2, 4 and 6, each worth up to $4.00 off, which covers 1 hour 36 minutes at the garage rate. The City sells them to merchants, not to drivers, and says the benefit is meant for shoppers. Gables Cinema, for one, says patrons get a discount when they validate in its lobby for Garage 2 next door.

On-street meters: up to $3.50 an hour, 9 a.m. to midnight

The City publishes “$3.50 maximum hourly rate for on-street parking meters” and says “On-Street metered parking is enforced 7 days a week from 9 a.m. to Midnight.” That is a 15 hours enforcement day, Sundays included. $3.50 is the ceiling, not the rate at every meter: the rate and time limit posted at the meter govern.

For payment, the City says “PayByPhone and ParkMobile are available for on-street, parking lot and Minorca garage parking payments.” The City publishes no zone numbers, so read the sign at the space.

City lots: up to $4 an hour

City-owned lots carry a “$4.00 Maximum hourly rate.” As with meters, the posted rate governs. These lots are listed by the City as open to visitors (transient parking):

  • Lot 3, 350 Aragon Ave., Lot 4, 153 Aragon Ave., Lot 7, 221 Almeria Ave., Lot 8, 240 Giralda Ave., Lot 13, 234 Navarre Ave., Lot 18, 351 Minorca Ave., Lot 25, 104 Merrick Way, Lot 31, 350 Greco Ave., Lot 36, 243 University Dr., Lot 41, 4520 Ponce de Leon Blvd..
  • Shared visitor and permit lots: Lot 12 & 16, 4600 Ponce de Leon Blvd., Lot 23, 490 Coral Way, Lot 33, 250 Almeria Avenue.

Several other City lots are reserved for permit holders, and one is marked closed for renovation, so we leave them off. Municipal lots carry City signs at the entrances. The City warns that “Private parking lots and garages establish their own rates and policies,” so a garage without City signs may charge far more than the figures here.

Which City facility is closest

By our straight-line measure from map pins (not a City statement, and not walking distance):

  • Miracle Mile: Garage 2, 220 Aragon Avenue, about 107 meters
  • Giralda Plaza: Lot 4, 153 Aragon Ave., about 60 meters
  • Coral Gables Museum: Lot 8, 240 Giralda Ave., about 92 meters
  • City Hall: Lot 23, 490 Coral Way, about 109 meters

Our Miracle Mile guide and things to do pages pair each stop with its nearest City parking. For the pool’s own lots, see Venetian Pool prices and hours.

Resident discount and residential permit zones

Residents can register with the City’s parking department for a 25% discount when paying through the apps, at app-enabled locations, and must send their documents each year by email to parking@coralgables.com.

Residential permit zones are separate. A block can petition into a decal zone with signatures from “one more than 50% of the property owners.” The City says: “The cost for a Residential Parking Permit is $20.00 per vehicle per year. Four visitor hanglets are sold per participating household. Additional visitor hanglets are available for purchase at $5.00 each per day.” Visitors without a hanglet should not park in a posted residential permit zone.

  • City Parking FAQs: a Residential Parking Permit costs "$20.00 per vehicle per year"; four visitor hanglets are sold per participating household, with extra hanglets "$5.00 each per day." City of Coral Gables: Parking FAQs

Disabled permits, and parking that is not the City’s

In a City garage, the City says the permit holder must be in the vehicle and should be ready to show the permit and ID when exiting. It publishes no free-parking exemption, and it says a driver with a disabled permit may still be required to pay at a private facility.

Two places nearby run their own systems. The Lowe Art Museum points drivers to the University of Miami’s Pavia Garage, where it says PayByPhone is $1.50 an hour plus a 27-cent transaction fee, five hours or more becomes all-day parking at $8, and University enforcement runs seven days a week, 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. The Biltmore says valet is $25 a day for visitors, with paid self-parking in its West Parking Lot. Neither follows City rates. More on getting around without a car is on our home page.

  • The Lowe points drivers to the Pavia Garage: "PayByPhone is $1.50/hourly, plus .27 cents transaction fee. Parking sessions of 5-hours or more converts to all day parking at $8"; University parking enforcement runs "7-days a week, 8:00a.m. to 11:00p.m." By Metrorail, it says to use University station, then the free University of Miami shuttle bus or walk. • The Biltmore calls itself "a National Historic Landmark located at 1200 Anastasia Ave, Coral Gables, Florida 33134." It says self-parking is available for a fee in the West Parking Lot and "Valet services are $25 daily for visitors and $42 per day for overnight guests. Rates are subject to change."
