The Venetian Pool is a public swimming pool run by the City of Coral Gables, Florida, at 2701 De Soto Boulevard. The City spreads its details over a pool page, a ticket guide and an FAQ, and its main pool page says nothing about parking. This page puts it all in one place: hours, resident and non-resident prices, the age rule, how tickets work, the winter closure and where to park. We checked every line on October 20, 2026.

  • The City of Coral Gables lists the Venetian Pool at 2701 De Soto Boulevard, Coral Gables, FL 33134, phone 305-460-5306, email vpinfo@coralgables.com. City of Coral Gables: Venetian Pool

Before you go

The pool is closed on Mondays. Buy tickets online before the day of your visit: online sales close on the day itself, and once the pool is full the gate stops selling. Children must be at least 3 years old and 38 inches tall, and you must bring proof of age.

Venetian Pool hours

DayHours (City operations schedule)
MondayClosed (open on Labor Day, 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.)
Tuesday to Friday11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • The City's Venetian Pool operations schedule: "Monday: Closed (Open for Labor Day from 11 a.m. till 5:30 p.m.)"; "Tuesday-Friday: 11 a.m.- 5:30 p.m."; "Saturday-Sunday: 10 a.m. – 4:30 p.m." The page says "The Venetian Pool is closed on Mondays." City of Coral Gables: Venetian Pool

The City’s pool page lists these weekly hours with no summer or winter version. At least one travel guide that still ranks for the pool says it opens only in spring and summer; the City’s page, read October 20, 2026, does not say that.

Winter closure: no dates posted

The City’s Venetian Pool FAQ says the pool is “closed to the public for annual maintenance and renovations from December to January.” It gives no dates for this winter, and the main pool page shows normal hours with no closure notice. The FAQ also carries some lines that are plainly out of date, so we treat a 2026 to 2027 winter closure as unconfirmed. Before a December or January visit, call the pool at 305-460-5306 or email vpinfo@coralgables.com.

  • The City's Venetian Pool FAQ answers "Do you close the pool for winter?" with: "We are closed to the public for annual maintenance and renovations from December to January." No exact 2026-27 closing or reopening dates are posted, and the main Venetian Pool page does not mention the winter closure. City of Coral Gables: Venetian Pool FAQs
  • No exact dates are posted for a December 2026 to January 2027 Venetian Pool closure. The City's FAQ says "closed to the public for annual maintenance and renovations from December to January", but that FAQ page also carries stale lines (café "closing for renovations starting Sept. 19, 2023 through Spring 2024"; pool "will turn 100 years old next year"), and the main Venetian Pool page lists normal weekly hours with no closure notice. News reports (not primary) say the pool reopened in December 2025 after a renovation closure from October 2024. So we give no 2026-27 closure dates; check with the pool before a winter visit. Venetian Pool prices: residents and non-residents

TicketNon-residentCoral Gables resident (year-round)
Adult, 13 and older$23$7
Child, 3 to 12$18$6
  • Venetian Pool rates on the City page: non-residents "Adults (13 years and older): $23" and "Child: (3 – 12 years) $18"; Coral Gables resident rates (year-round) "Adults (13 years and older): $7" and "Child: (3 – 12 years) $6". Resident adults must show proof of Coral Gables residency. "Cash, Visa, Mastercard and American Express accepted. Fees are subject to change." City of Coral Gables: Venetian Pool

The City says a “VP Resident” is someone who pays property taxes to the City of Coral Gables. Staff check eligibility on the Miami-Dade Property Search, and resident adults must show proof of Coral Gables residency, such as a driver’s license. The FAQ adds that this is the only discount the pool offers. The pool takes cash, Visa, Mastercard and American Express, and the City notes that fees are subject to change.

  • Venetian Pool FAQ: "'VP Resident' refers to individuals who pay property taxes to the City of Coral Gables." Staff use the Miami-Dade Property Search to verify eligibility, and residents should bring ID such as a driver's license. "The only discount we offer is for City of Coral Gables residents." City of Coral Gables: Venetian Pool FAQs

Other sites print different prices. When we checked, Wikipedia (last modified August 24, 2026) still listed $21 and $16 for non-residents and $6.50 and $5.50 for residents. The prices above are the City’s, from its Venetian Pool page.

Age and height rule

The City’s rule reads: “Children must be a minimum of 3 years of age and 38 inches tall to enter the facility. Verification of age must be presented at the time of entry.” Children under 3 cannot go in. The FAQ words the rule a little differently; we follow the main pool page.

  • "Children must be a minimum of 3 years of age and 38 inches tall to enter the facility. Verification of age must be presented at the time of entry." City of Coral Gables: Venetian Pool
  • The FAQ wording on age/height ("Parents/guardians must provide proof of age for children that are 3 years old but do not measure at least 38 inches in height") reads differently from the main page rule ("minimum of 3 years of age and 38 inches tall"). This guide uses the main page rule. City of Coral Gables: Venetian Pool FAQs

Tickets and reservations

  • Pick your date ahead. The City’s ticket guide says online sales close on the day of the visit. Same-day tickets may be sold at the pool until it reaches capacity.
  • Online tickets guarantee entry. The FAQ says day-of tickets are first come, first served, and once the pool reaches maximum capacity “you will not be admitted unless you pre-purchased online.”
  • Accounts: non-residents do not need one. Residents log in or create an account, which the Community Recreation Department checks before it applies the resident price.
  • No refunds: the City lists no rainchecks or refunds, and no re-entry without a receipt.
  • The City's ticket guide: "Select your visit date in advance. Online ticket sales close day-of. Same-day tickets may be available onsite until capacity is reached." Non-residents do not need an account; Coral Gables residents must log in or create an account that the Community Recreation Department verifies for the resident discount. City of Coral Gables: Venetian Pool Ticket Purchasing Guide
  • Venetian Pool FAQ: online tickets are for pre-purchase "to guarantee your admission"; "Online tickets cannot be purchased the day of." The water, the depth and access

The City’s pool page says the pool is fed by spring water from an underground aquifer and is refilled with over 820,000 gallons of water, and that it has two waterfalls and cave-like grottos. The FAQ describes the draining schedule differently, so we leave the timing out. The FAQ gives the depth as 2 feet at the shallowest end and 8 feet at the deepest. The pool is handicap accessible, the FAQ says, with an elevator into the pool.

Parking and getting there

The main pool page has no parking details. The City’s Venetian Pool FAQ describes two parking lots in front: one beside the facility and one across from the entrance gate by the De Soto Fountain roundabout, with overflow parking at Salvadore Park, less than half a mile from the pool. The City pages we read do not give a rate for those lots, so pay what is posted on site.

The pool is away from the downtown garages. In our parking data the nearest numbered City lot is Lot 23 at 490 Coral Way, about 950 meters away in a straight line. See the parking page for City rates.

Without a car, the City says its free Freebee on-demand service now extends to the Venetian Pool. Book a ride in the Ride Freebee app, or call Freebee Dispatch at 855-918-3733 if you have no smartphone. Freebee hours and the free trolley are on our getting around page.

  • City Freebee page: service "now extends to Santillane Ave. from Douglas Road to Salzedo St. (south of Zamora Ave., it extends to Le Jeune Road). Service was also extended to Venetian Pool." A short history of the Venetian Pool

The City’s history page says the pool “was opened in 1924 as the Venetian Casino.” It was made from the quarry pit that supplied limestone for early Coral Gables buildings, through the efforts of George Merrick, artist Denman Fink and architect Phineas Paist. The City’s main pool page says “since 1923”; we use 1924, the year on the history page and the FAQ. The Merricks’ own home, the City says, was extended with coral rock quarried from what would later become the Venetian Pool.

The City says the pool is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and that a historical renovation was completed in 1989. More on Merrick and his team is on our history page.

George Merrick donated the land. For more stops, see things to do in Coral Gables and the day planner.
